The main aim of the selection is to support the operations of mining companies that carry out highly productive production fully in line with domestic and international standards, and to encourage activity that provides the investment needed to bring mineral deposits into economic circulation.

Of the five categories in the selection, the national mining company Energy Resources LLC was chosen and received certificates in the Leading investor in the mining sector and Best introduction of technology categories, while the Beren Group led the Occupational safety category and Monpolymet the Best rehabilitation category.

A clear example of how Mongolia’s mining sector is developing and gathering pace in line with world benchmark standards, and of national companies becoming internationally competitive, can be seen in the success of Energy Resources, which offered its shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange last October. Professionals also said they believe that, following this benchmark, many more domestic companies will have the opportunity to raise capital on international markets and expand their operations. The best miners and best geologists of the sector were also selected during the event.
