Influential, leading companies in Mongolian business competed in ten categories in total, and the best in each sector and the Top 10 enterprises are selected on the basis of many professional criteria, such as increasing exports, contributing to the national economy and clean production, creating new jobs and introducing new technology and advanced practice into production.

The leading enterprises of 2010 were Petrovis LLC, Bishrelt Holding, Monos Group, Naran Foods, Uguuj Chikher Boov LLC, the UFC Group, Khan Bank, Erdenet Khivs LLC and Unitel LLC, while the national mining company Energy Resources was named winner of the Grand Prix trophy — the best of the best in business.

Energy Resources, which operates at the Ukhaa Khudag coal mine in Tsogttsetsii soum, Umnugobi aimag, is delivering many important infrastructure projects that are firsts not only in its sector but nationally, and in the year now ending, 2010, it became the first of the national companies to offer its shares successfully on the international market, taking an entirely new step in increasing global investors’ confidence in Mongolia.

Receiving this prestigious award, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, G. Battsengel, said: I believe that when the infrastructure projects our Company has begun are commissioned next year, they will take Mongolia’s mining sector to a new level. As well as a plant based on Australian technology with the capacity to wash 5 million tonnes of coal a year being built at Ukhaa Khudag, an 18 MW power plant is being built for the first time through the joint labour and skill of purely Mongolian engineers. Beyond that, an advanced water supply system and the 245 km paved road connecting Ukhaa Khudag with Gashuunsukhait will be commissioned next year.
