A total of 74 employees attended the training, held at the Company’s Ukhaa Khudag branch on 15–17 October 2011, including human resources and management-level staff of the Company and its affiliated companies as well as contracted security personnel.

By including in the training the managers who have a duty to prevent human rights breaches during the Company’s operations — those who deal most closely with employees — the aim is to limit the risk of human rights being breached in the workplace and to make human rights principles a core part of the organisation’s culture.

The training was delivered by qualified lawyers of the Centre for Human Rights and Development, which works specifically in the mining sector, and covered important concepts that need to be known in the workplace, such as the right to work, the rights of local residents and the restoration of breached rights.
