Training held in the three Gobi Shankh long songs
Energy Resources has begun preparations to hold the Gobi Shankh long-song competition for the second year — songs the people of the Gobi have sung down the generations for centuries.
As part of this work, a successful six-day course was held in Dalanzadgad teaching the three Gobi Shankh long songs: “Undriin uvs”, “Kholch mori” and “Khurdan saikhan”. More than 50 participants took part in the course, led by Kh. Erdenetsetseg, soloist of the National Academic Drama Theatre, including music teachers from secondary schools in Umnugobi aimag, children and young people interested in long song, and representatives of the older generation.
On this occasion the Department of Education and Culture of Umnugobi aimag presented 17 participants with “Trainer teacher” certificates. The trainer teachers will take part in spreading and teaching the Gobi Shankh long songs. Research has established that the Gobi Shankh long-song festival, held as part of the programme to preserve intangible cultural heritage and support folk art and culture, received the highest satisfaction rating of all the projects and programmes Energy Resources delivers locally. The second Gobi Shankh long-song competition will be held this July.
