This award is given to the company that receives top marks in each of the selection’s five areas and has performed to a high standard throughout the year.

This selection, which aims to make the progress and the new and best practice emerging in the mining sector known to the public, is judged by highly respected professionals in their fields against carefully defined criteria. It is also distinctive in holding an online discussion among the public and professional organisations, so that the results are determined as objectively and independently as possible.

The organisers concluded that this year’s selection covered a wider scope than last year’s and that, with more organisations taking part, the competition was strong. In the other categories of the selection, awards went to the open-pit ore mine of Erdenet Mining Corporation and to companies such as Peabody Winsway Resources, Tavan Talst and Hunnu Coal. Last year Energy Resources was named winner of the Best mining operations category in the same selection.
