During the visit, Energy Resources signed a memorandum of understanding with Sumitomo of Japan on cooperation in coal sales and marketing.

Under the memorandum, coking coal mined at Tavantolgoi and washed will be delivered to overseas markets through Chinese territory, initially on a trial basis. The main aim is also to supply Mongolian coal to third markets long-term and to establish stable export cooperation. The Sumitomo group operates in more than 60 countries and is one of Japan’s largest corporations, with an extensive network and rich experience in mining, infrastructure and transport logistics. In this sense it will provide real support and cooperation in bringing Mongolian coal to third markets beyond China.
