With this, the Ukhaa Khudag mine sets a new record in the history of Mongolia’s mining sector for the volume and scale of coal production and processing. The Ukhaa Khudag mine began operations in 2009 and has thus brought production to 40 million tonnes over a total of seven years. Within the mining complex, the first coal washing plant in Mongolia — and indeed in the region — was built in 2011, all three modules came fully into operation in 2013, and it now operates with the capacity to wash 15 million tonnes of coal a year. In this respect Energy Resources LLC is the only enterprise in the country that washes and processes coal for export rather than exporting it raw. Its use of internationally recognised, highly productive modern technology is another foundation of the mine’s success.

The mine with the highest coal production in our country is recorded as Baganuur, which has produced 100 million tonnes of coal over a total of 38 years. The Sharyn Gol mine, meanwhile, has produced around 58 million tonnes of coal over 51 years.
