Energy Resources LLC signs a cooperation agreement with Umnugobi aimag

The Company has provided mining and social infrastructure locally as an integrated whole and has worked to a comprehensive social responsibility policy in local education, employment, health and the environment, making it a benchmark company at national level. The agreement confirms that this cooperation will continue in the same way and that the Company will contribute to the development of Umnugobi aimag and Tsogttsetsii soum.

By way of example, the Company currently has more than 1,400 employees, 65% of whom are local residents. Since 2009 it has also built, entirely from its own investment, all the infrastructure associated with the mining complex in Tsogttsetsii soum — power, housing, a school and a kindergarten.

At the signing, the Governor of Umnugobi aimag, N. Naranbaatar, said: The cooperation agreement was concluded on the initiative of both sides. The work we have been doing with Energy Resources LLC in key areas such as improving local education, health and social infrastructure will continue.

The Company’s Chief Executive Officer, G. Battsengel, said on the occasion: Previously, together with the Governor’s Office of Umnugobi aimag, we built in Tsogttsetsii soum a complex comprising the Muruudul school for 600 children, a kindergarten for 150 children and a dormitory for 100 children. Our Company has created many jobs locally and provided residents with quality, stable employment. We have also consistently carried out work such as providing the inter-soum hospital with the equipment it needs. We will continue and carry all of this forward. In other words, we have worked to make the economic benefit of the Ukhaa Khudag project more widely available to all residents and to develop the social infrastructure of the soum and the local area.
