“Energy Resources” first in the mining sector to implement ISO standards as an integrated system
Energy Resources is the first company in Mongolia to implement ISO standards in its operations as an integrated international management system, and has received its certification from the standardization firm Afnor of France.
In its operations at the Ukhaa Khudag mine and coal washing plant, the Company worked for more than a year to implement a management system based on three international standards:
- ISO 9001:2015 for quality management systems,
- ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management systems,
- and OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management systems.
The certification audit was carried out by qualified Mongolian and French auditors. Presenting the certificate, Fabien Bonin-Brie, Regional Director of the international standardization group AFNOR of France, noted that a long-term assessment had established that Energy Resources performs particularly well in the environment and occupational safety, which is why the international certification was being awarded, and that he was delighted to see the first company in Mongolia to implement an integrated set of standards.
Implementing international ISO standards as an integrated system in the mining sector brings international recognition in every respect — productivity, governance and product quality. Most importantly, it is of key significance in applying environmental and occupational safety standards consistently and embedding responsible mining.
