₮740 million donated to the “Land of Magic 2” project
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Ukhaa Khudag mine, Energy Resources is delivering work directed at society that will bring real long-term benefit.
As part of this, it has donated ₮740 million — half the total funding for the second phase of the Land of Magic project of the Lantuun Dohio NGO, which works in child protection and development.
While the first Land of Magic was successfully built at the end of Bayankhoshuu in Songinokhairkhan district, Land of Magic 2 will be built at the eastern edge of Ulaanbaatar, at the end of Uliastai in Bayanzurkh district, and represents a major investment in the future of children. On a total of 4,200 sq m, an integrated centre will be built comprising a child protection and development centre, a sports complex, a playground, green space, a park, a garage and temporary accommodation — a development twice the size of the existing Land of Magic centre in Bayankhoshuu, as the Lantuun Dohio NGO highlighted. Groundwork and construction will begin in April next year.
B. Ganjavkhlan, head of the Lantuun Dohio NGO: Personally, I see this as a historic day for Mongolia’s child protection sector. A private sector organisation has donated ₮740 million to child protection — to the construction of “Land of Magic 2”. Previously Mongolians donated ₮1,000 each and built “Land of Magic” within five months. Today Energy Resources has donated half the cost of building “Land of Magic 2” and taken on a very heavy load.
G. Battsengel, Chief Executive Officer of Energy Resources LLC: Today we handed over our donation for child protection to the “Lantuun Dohio” NGO. All the young people working at our Company supported this initiative. Of the issues facing society, the most serious is crime against children. We are supporting our young people’s initiative because we recognise that every citizen’s involvement matters in reducing it. This year marks 25 years of the MCS Group and 10 years since Energy Resources began operations. Mongolia’s private sector is already standing on its own feet and has come of age, so it should share the load in solving the major problems facing our society. I therefore hope that many more Mongolian companies will contribute to work for the public good.
