Under the project:

• With specialist adviser teachers brought in from Ulaanbaatar, all the teachers of the two secondary schools in Tsogttsetsii soum will take part regularly in professional training on skills and teaching methods.
• The soum’s teachers will have the opportunity to take part in performance appraisal, have their work assessed objectively and receive performance-based incentives.
• Additional new teachers with strengthened skills in mathematics will join.
• The English language teaching software will also be updated, among other work.

Tsogttsetsii soum currently has two secondary schools. In 2013 Energy Resources, together with Umnugobi aimag, built a modern complex comprising a school, kindergarten and dormitory called Muruudul at a cost of more than ₮9 billion. The soum also has the older T. Bor secondary school. The project covers both schools and is notable as a new phase of the education project Energy Resources has been delivering.

I am delighted that a new phase of this project is now beginning. Its aim is to create the conditions for a quality education in a remote Gobi soum.”

O. Badarch, Governor of Tsogttsetsii soum: “Energy Resources has carried out major construction in our soum and delivered large, long-term projects and programmes. The teachers, pupils and all the people of the soum are delighted that the programme is continuing again. We believe that when the private sector is doing so much, we in the soum cannot simply sit back. We are doing everything we can to improve our teachers’ skills and involve them in training at home and abroad. Since the Muruudul school was built and the education management programme began, the quality of the soum’s graduates has clearly improved.”
