Ukhaa Khudag mine receives the Deming Prize — the first in Mongolia
By implementing international ISO standards as an integrated system at its mine, Energy Resources has become the first company in Mongolia to receive the Deming Prize for quality management.
The Deming Prize is the highest award in quality management and is granted at national, regional, continental and global level.
At the coal washing plant of the Ukhaa Khudag complex we were the first in Mongolia to implement a management system based on three international standards: ISO 9001:2015 for quality management systems, ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management systems and OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management systems. This allowed us to make progress in product quality and operational productivity and to bring international practice to our country.
If we continue to improve our implementation of the ISO standards, we will be able to compete and have our operations assessed at Asian and global level.
The Deming Prize for quality has rarely been awarded in our country before; this is the first time it has been granted, at the end of 2019.
