Ukhaa Khudag mine certifies its ISO standards and completes a surveillance audit
Ukhaa Khudag is the first mine in Mongolia to implement an integrated international management system based on ISO standards.
Under it we operate three international standards: ISO 9001:2015 for quality management systems, ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management systems and OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management systems.
Implementation of the standards has to be monitored and verified on a regular basis. Last week auditors from MonCertf LLC completed the second-stage surveillance audit of the system. Implementing international ISO standards as an integrated system in the mining sector improves productivity and quality and is of key importance in embedding responsible mining.
B. Uuriintuya, OHS manager at Energy Resources:
This audit is carried out every two years. This time the auditors concluded that we had implemented the previous improvement recommendations very well and had also done a great deal on our own initiative. Our next goals are to move our occupational health and safety standard from OHSAS 18001:2007 to ISO 45001:2018 and to extend the integrated management system to the other activities of the project.
