Major expansion of the coal washing plant system
A major expansion has been carried out at Mongolia’s first coal washing plant at Ukhaa Khudag: the third line — the “Raw coal crushing and handling system expansion project” (ROM3) with its complete set of facilities — was successfully completed together with contractors from Germany and Mongolia.
The new line has the capacity to receive, crush and handle 2,200 tonnes of raw coal an hour, or 10 million tonnes a year, and now that it is in operation it is important for improving product quality and ensuring uninterrupted production.
The project used equipment from TAKRAF Tenova GmbH of Germany with the latest advanced technology, meeting international quality requirements and suited both to Gobi conditions and to the properties of the coal currently being mined.
The coal washing plant was built between 2009 and 2013 to Australian technological design and is a complex of main and auxiliary buildings and conveyors with three modules and the capacity to wash and process 15 million tonnes of coal a year.
